What I’m Reading
*Spoiler Alert*
So, I’m slowly trying to finish Reign of Blood, because it started off really good, but has slowly become a little …eeh…
This is mostly because of the moment when the MC meets a one of the large groups of vampires, she instantly falls in love with one of the leaders, and him with her (because she’s his soul mate and they sort of imprint). For me, it came out of nowhere, and really bugged me because she suddenly became a lot more reliant on him, but he hasn’t given her a reason to be that way, other than the fact that he’s handsome and their ‘meant to be together’.
It’s not necessarily bad. Just not my cup of tea..
I don’t want her to change from that kick ass girl who recklessly blew up the casinos where the vampires lived, or even fought alongside her mother. I get that losing her mother and brother is traumatic, and that she believes she’s the only human left. But this doesn’t give her a reason to suddenly feel that she needs to be protected by him when he hasn’t even proved he can.
I just… I don’t know about this one. Maybe I’m over analyzing it. Have any of you read this story? If so, let me know what you think .
What I’m Writing
I’m on a short writing hiatus until my writing class begins. I’m hoping to get into a story development class, to help out with the problems I’ve been having over the summer, so until next week, I’m letting my muse rest a bit longer.
What Inspires Me
Talking with my friends. I swear I’ve been a hermit all summer, so I hadn’t realized how much talking with them again is refreshing my imagination. I can’t wait to get started with writing, but I dont’ want to rush things. I’m also hoping that i’ll get some inspiration for some new posts too.
What Else I’m Up To
- Classes have started for me this week~ Well, technically, only interview for classes, but I’ll officially start next week. And I’m excited!!

Hey, great to see you again. I haven’t heard of that book, but yeah, it sounds like a really bad character break the way you describe it. I’ve been really enjoying the character work in Elizabeth Moon’s “Vatta’s War” series lately, especially the trope twist where everybody expects the young MCs to be totally hormonal and emotionally unbalanced and to have blind spots when it comes to each other, but they manage to prove that “No, we just know we work well as a team, that’s it.” 🙂

I haven’t read that book, but I just realized I haven’t read anything paranormal in forever I really want to! Glad you’re getting excited about writing, it’s nice when the ideas begin to tumble out of you after a break.
