What I’m Reading

Still reading story for my classes, while still trying to set some time aside for personal reading. That isn’t working too well, but luckily, I like most of what I have to read for my classes.

The one story I want to share with you all is Joyce Carol Oates “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” It’s creepy, a good creepy, and I love the way the tension seems to rise so clearly and easily within the story. I’d read it again, because I know this is one of those things where I’ll find something different and knew each time I go through it.  If anyone has read it already, let me know what you thought of it!

What I’m Reading

Just finished reading a few stories for my writing workshop: Anton Chekhov’s “The Lady and The Toy Dog”, and Stephen Crane’s “The Open Boat”.

The first story is about a Russian man and woman, and their affair. No spoilers, since you find that out in the first paragraph. And the second one is about four men and their experiences after being shipwrecked, floating along the sea to the shore.

I’ll talk more about Chekhov’s story because, even though the MC is selfish and disrespectful towards women, he was a very interesting character. I loved reading his thoughts and way of justifying his actions, and even though generally nothing really changed in the end, I was satisfied with the ending.

What I’m Reading

Just getting into a novel called Reign of Blood, by Alexia Purdy. I figured I needed to read more apocalyptic/ war stories since that’s sort of what I’m trying to write now. And I think it’s helping. But mostly, I’m enjoying the journey with the characters.

So far, it’s about a girl, who lives in a world taken over by zombie-like vampires (and I say zombie-like because these vampires began with some kind of sickness, maybe airborne? and I instantly think zombie). Along with her mother and her younger brother, MC lives in a rural area, simply trying to survive, until her they are abducted. Can’t wait to see how my expectations will be twisted with this story~

What I’m Reading

Fanfictions. I mean, really really good fanfictions. Well thought out , detailed and in character fanfictions. It’s like an addiction, and I can’t seem to quit, until I run out of updates….

What I’m Reading

Re reading a few books on my shelf, mainly the Goddess Summoning series. Great series, and if you haven’t read it, you should.

I still haven’t found anything new that has really urged me to read it immediately, but I know things will change soon. Even without reading novels, I can’t resist reading fanfictions, so maybe I’m just in a fanfic mood for now? We’ll see…

What I’m Reading

Going through a bit of a reading funk. I haven’t been able to find something that really catches my eye yet. If anyone has recommendations, please share~

What I’m Reading

I’m working my way through the first of the Shadow Falls series, Born at Midnight. What pulled me to pick up this particular story? It has supernatural teenagers, and I want to see if C. C. Hunter is going to play with my expectations of this. It’s good so far, but I’m only a few chapters in. Maybe once I’m done with it, I’ll give it a bit of a review and tell you guys all about it. What I’m Reading

Sadly, nothing at the moment. I’m getting through the last week of classes on campus, so I’ll definitely start something next week. I do have my eye on a few new reads… Continue reading
